Geomap Settings

This dialog window allows you to configure the display parameters of astrocartographic lines and parans on the geographical map. Settings are divided into two tabs: “Main” and “Parans”.

”Main” Tab

This is where the basic parameters for displaying planetary lines at the chart angles and visual interface settings are configured.

Planets at Angles In the right part of the block, the projection type for calculating angular lines is selected:

• Mundane (A*C*G) — the classical astrocartography approach according to Jim Lewis. With this selection, the options on the left mean:
  • Culmination — lines of culminating planets;
  • Anti-culmination — lines of anti-culminating planets;
  • Rising — lines of rising planets;
  • Setting — lines of setting planets.
• Zodiacal (ecliptic projection) — a projection based on longitude. The option values change as follows:
  • Culmination — lines of planets at MC (Midheaven);
  • Anti-culmination — lines of planets at IC (Nadir);
  • Rising — lines of planets at Asc (Ascendant);
  • Setting — lines of planets at Dsc (Descendant).

Additionally in this block, you can enable the display of lines of planetary conjunctions with the Vertex and Anti-Vertex. If necessary, you can activate the display of major and minor aspects to the angular lines by checking the desired aspects in the corresponding panel.

Local Space Section

• Preserve natal azimuths upon relocation: An alternative method for analyzing Local Space charts. By default, when relocating, the azimuths of objects are recalculated for the new location. Enabling this option rigidly fixes the azimuth values from the original (natal) chart, which some astrologers prefer to use in their practice.

Visual Parameters and Orbs In the lower part of the tab, the following are configured:

• Font size of line markers on the map.
• Line thickness of planets.
• Orb of planetary lines (in meters) — sets the width of the influence zone of a planetary line on the geographical map.
• Orb of paran lines (in meters) — the influence zone of paran lines (latitudinal intersections).

”Parans” Tab

Parans are latitudinal lines showing geographical points where two planets are simultaneously located at the chart angles (for example, one is rising while the other is culminating).

Settings in this tab:

• Paran types: You can select which specific line intersections will be taken into account (for example, only Rise/Set to Rise/Set, or intersections of horizon lines with meridian lines).
• Latitude range: Setting the maximum and minimum geographic latitude limits the paran calculation area, which prevents the map from being overloaded with unnecessary lines in regions that are not relevant to you.
• Object filter (right panel): A table in which the planets participating in paran formation are checked. This allows you to display on the map only intersections involving objects that are significant to you (for example, excluding outer planets).

Working with the Paran List

In addition to the graphical display of lines on the map, the program provides a detailed tabular list. It can be called up directly on the geomap by right-clicking on a location of interest and selecting “Local Paran List” from the context menu. The list will be calculated for the specific location taking into account the orb you have set.
