Lunations

This calculation block is designed for finding lunations — moments when the angular distance between the Sun and Moon reaches a specified value within a chosen time range. Depending on the selected phase, the program can calculate not only new moons and full moons, but also any other regular phases of the luminary cycle.
Calculation Settings
The following parameters are available in the upper part of the window:
- Time range: Select a start date and set the duration of the search period (in years and days).
- Phase: In the dropdown list on the right, select the angular distance of interest. For example, in the screenshot shown, the phase
180°is selected, which means searching for all full moons in the given year.
Results Table
After calculation, a chronological list of found events is generated:
- Sequential number of the event.
- Name of the phase (e.g., New Moon or Full Moon).
- Exact date and time of the lunation (in UT format).
- Exact zodiacal coordinates of the Sun and Moon at that moment.
Eclipse indicator: If a calculated lunation (new moon or full moon) is accompanied by an eclipse, a special round marker appears to the left of the event row. Hovering your mouse cursor over this marker shows a tooltip with brief clarifying information about the eclipse.
Context Menu
Right-clicking on any row in the table opens a menu with additional functions:
- Apply to dial (1-4): Instantly rebuild the selected working chart dial to the exact date and time of the calculated lunation.
- Show eclipses only: This filter hides ordinary lunations from the general list, leaving on screen only those events that coincide with eclipses.
- Load to Event Pool: Sends the selected events to the program’s Event Pool for saving and further analysis.
- Save as TXT…: Exports the calculation results to a plain text document.
- Equatorial projection: When this option is activated, the program changes the calculation algorithm: the angular distance (aspect) between the Sun and Moon is calculated not along the ecliptic (as is standard in classical astrology), but is projected onto the celestial equator using the right ascension of the luminaries.
