Derived Houses

This tool allows you to quickly change the house reference system of a horoscope by designating any cusp as the First House (Asc). In astrological practice, this is called the derived houses technique and is used to analyze specific spheres of life through the lens of a given topic.
For example, if you are interested in a partner’s finances, you can designate the VIII house (other people’s money) as the new I house, and the entire house grid will be rebuilt relative to this reference point, showing the situation “through the partner’s eyes.”
How it works
- Select the cusp of interest from the “Derived Houses” list.
- The house grid on the graphical chart will instantly be rebuilt so that the selected cusp takes the position of the Asc (I house), and all other houses shift proportionally.
- The interpretation of planets in houses is now carried out relative to the new context.
Example: You selected the cusp of the IV house as the derived I. Now a planet in the natal X house will be in the derived VII house (since the X house is the 7th from the IV). This allows you to analyze a parent’s career (X house) through the lens of the parent’s partnerships (VII derived).
Location in the interface
To speed up your work, the “Derived Houses” element can be added to the right panel of widgets. To do this, right-click on an empty space in the right panel and select the corresponding item in the widget-adding context menu.
