Asteroid Catalog

In this dialog window you can create thematic asteroid sets (for example, for use in the «Asteroid Conjunctions» calculation module), as well as check for the presence of the required ephemeris files in the program’s database.
Window Structure
- Sets (Left column): List of user sets.
- Selected (Center table): Asteroids included in the active set. Their number, name, and longitude and latitude calculated for the current date are displayed here.
- Available (Right table): The general database of supported asteroids (over 22,000 objects).
A search bar is located at the bottom of the window (below the “Available” table). You can quickly find the desired asteroid by entering a fragment of its name or its catalog number. Any table can be sorted by simply left-clicking on the header of the desired column (e.g., by number or name).
Adding and Removing Asteroids
- How to add: Select one or more asteroids in the “Available” table (you can use standard Windows key combinations:
CtrlorShiftfor multi-selection). Then drag them with the mouse to the center table, or right-click and select “Add to current set”. - How to remove: Select an asteroid in the “Selected” table and press the
Deletekey on the keyboard, or right-click and select “Delete”.
Checking and Downloading Ephemerides The program requires a corresponding ephemeris file to correctly calculate an asteroid’s coordinates.
- Checking availability: At the bottom panel of the window there is a green checkmark button . Clicking it will make the program check for ephemeris files for all asteroids in the table. Objects for which files are not found will be highlighted in red.
- Downloading: If a required file is missing, select the problematic asteroid (or several) in any of the tables, right-click to open the context menu, and click “Download Ephemerides”. The program will automatically download the necessary data.
