Star Catalog

This dialog window is designed for viewing astronomical data and creating fixed star sets. Its basic functionality is identical to the main objects catalog, but it contains star-specific information.

(Note: this window is only for creating sets. The actual display of selected stars on the chart is configured through the Extra Objects Catalog).

Star Table Structure The following data is displayed for each star in the table (left to right):

• Activity (checkbox) — include the star in the current set;
• Name and abbreviation;
• Nomenclature and constellation to which the star belongs;
• Magnitude (visual brightness);
• Calculated astronomical data: ecliptic longitude, latitude, right ascension, declination, and distance. All these values are calculated dynamically for the event date of the selected wheel.
• Star’s nature (astrological influence). To set or change a star’s nature, double-click the left mouse button on the corresponding cell and select the desired option from the list.

Bulk Management To speed up working with the list, a context menu is available (right mouse button) containing two quick commands:

• Select all stars — bulk-activates the activity checkboxes for all objects in the list.
• Deselect all stars — removes checkboxes from all objects.

⚠️ Important Note on Saving Sets When creating, renaming, or saving a set in any other way, only the information about stars that are checked will be written to the file. If you uncheck a star, it is excluded from the set, and all user information about it (e.g., manually set “Star’s Nature”) for that file will be permanently lost. Always make sure the stars you need remain checked before renaming or saving a set.

File Location User and system star sets are physically stored in the program directory at: sets/starSets.
