What is a harmonic chart
A harmonic chart (HC) is calculated by multiplying the natal coordinates of planets by a harmonic number. Each harmonic reveals specific patterns, recurring aspect structures, and hidden thematic layers of the chart. For example:
- 2nd harmonic amplifies polarities and oppositional links
- 3rd harmonic is associated with trine structures
- 5th harmonic is often used to analyze creative potential
- 7th harmonic is applied to finer, unconventional interactions
- 9th harmonic is traditionally used in several schools as a major derived chart
How the table works
The table displays a list of harmonic charts pre-selected by the user in the corresponding section of the program settings. All rows are automatically sorted in descending order based on aspect density:
- Harmonics with the maximum number of aspects are shown at the top
- Harmonics with lower aspect activity are shown below This allows you to quickly find the most expressive harmonic levels of the chart.
Table Row Format
Each row in the table contains the following information (from left to right):
- Harmonic Number (e.g.,
H1,H4,H9). - Total number of aspects in the given chart (the “Total” column).
- Distribution of aspects by type:
σ— Conjunction (0°)×— Opposition (180°)□— Square (90°)△— Trine (120°) Note: Depending on the orb settings and enabled major aspects, the number of displayed aspect type columns may vary. This way, you can see not only the overall density of the chart but also understand exactly which aspects predominate in it.
Current Harmonic
The currently active harmonic chart is highlighted in the table. This helps you stay oriented when rapidly switching between different harmonics.
Interactive Controls
The row containing Harmonic Chart parameters is clickable.
- A single click on any row in the table instantly switches the main chart display to the corresponding harmonic.
- Keyboard navigation: When the table is in focus, you can use the up and down arrow keys to sequentially cycle through the harmonics.
Practical Application
This tool is especially useful for:
- Finding the strongest hidden structures in a natal chart
- Evaluating the repetition of aspect patterns
- Highlighting harmonics with high event activity
- Exploring creative, spiritual, or karmic themes (depending on the practiced school)
- Quick comparative analysis of multiple harmonics
Built-in Panel Mode
As shown in the screenshot, the harmonics table can be used as a standalone pop-up window or as a built-in widget in the right panel for constant, quick access during chart analysis.
