Calculation Settings
In the top panel of the window, you can set the necessary parameters:
- Eclipse Type: Use the radio buttons to select which specific eclipses you want to calculate (Solar or Lunar).
- Year and Period: Specify the starting year for the search and the duration of the period (in years).
- Location: You can select geographical coordinates (a city) to calculate the visibility of the eclipse.
Results Table and Detailed Information
After calculation, a list of found eclipses is generated in the top table. Each row displays the date, exact time of maximum (in UT), eclipse type (e.g., Total, Annular, Partial), and the exact zodiacal coordinate (degree, minute, and sign).
Clicking on any row in the table automatically populates the bottom panel of the window with highly detailed astronomical information for the selected eclipse:
- Exact coordinates of the eclipse maximum.
- Phase chronology (start and end of the partial/annular eclipse, maximum).
- Technical parameters: ratio of lunar to solar diameter, percentage of disc obscured, shadow diameter, Sun’s azimuth and altitude, Moon’s elongation, and eclipse magnitude according to NASA standards.
- Saros series affiliation (series number and eclipse number within it).
Context Menu
Right-clicking a selected eclipse in the table opens a menu that allows you to:
- Apply to dial (1-4): Rebuild the selected working chart dial to the date of this eclipse. Important: the program automatically sets the time to the moment of the exact ecliptic conjunction (for solar) or opposition (for lunar) of the luminaries.
- Show on geomap: If you are in the geomap mode, the path of the eclipse shadow across the Earth’s surface will be displayed on it.
