Profections

This calculation block is designed for computing annual profections — a classical forecasting method in which a selected chart point (usually the Ascendant, but others can be used) moves one zodiac sign for each year of life. This method is widely used in traditional astrology to determine the “Lord of the Year” (the ruling planet of the sign into which the profection has moved).

Calculation Settings

The window interface is maximally concise and allows you to quickly obtain the required table:

• Object selection: A dropdown list is located in the lower left corner. Here you select the natal point (hyleg) from which the profection will be counted. By default this may be the Ascendant, the Moon (as in the screenshot), or any other planet.
• Period (years): In the lower right corner you set the time span of the calculation. You can set any value (e.g., 99 years to immediately cover the native’s entire life).

Reading the Results Table

Immediately after changing the settings, the table is automatically populated with data. For ease of reading, rows alternate in background color. The table displays:

1. Ruler symbol: The planet ruling the sign into which the profection point has moved in the given year. This is the Lord of the Year (Chronocrator).
2. Longitude: The exact zodiacal coordinate of the profection point (degree, sign, and minute).
3. Age: The native’s age (0 years — year of birth, 1 year — the year after the birthday, etc.). Since the profection moves exactly 30 degrees per year, a complete cycle of the zodiac occurs every 12 years.
4. Year: The calendar year on which the beginning of this profection period falls (usually starting from the native’s birthday).

As in other program windows, selecting the required row makes it easy to track which year of life corresponds to which ruling planet and sign.
