Software update v2.16

ZEUS 2.16: native build for Apple Silicon Macs

ZEUS 2.16 is out — a separate native build for Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 and later, macOS 13+): an 87 MB installer, the Celestial Sphere, light and dark themes, all settings in one window with search. Atlas update: time zones for nine countries and new places.

ZEUS now runs on Macs with Apple’s own processors — M1, M2, M3, M4 and later — as a native application, with no Rosetta 2 layer. It is a separate build compiled for the Apple Silicon architecture: the code runs on the processor directly, without translation, and the installer is several times smaller — 87 MB instead of 243.

Download: Zeus-2.16-arm64.dmg on the download page. Requirements: a Mac with an Apple chip (M1 or later) and macOS 13 Ventura or later. Intel Macs and Windows stay on version 2.15 for now; their 2.16 updates will follow.

If ZEUS is already installed

The Apple Silicon version is installed fresh, not as an update on top of the previous one. Your charts, sessions and settings are stored inside the old app, so before installing rename it in the Applications folder — for example to “Zeus 2.15”. Both versions will then sit side by side and your data stays where it is. The step-by-step instructions, including the first launch and the “Open Anyway” permission in Privacy & Security, are in the Installation section of the download page.

What’s new in the macOS version

  • Native Apple Silicon support. The program is built for Apple processors and does not use Rosetta 2.
  • Celestial Sphere. The 3D model of the sky now works on the Mac as well.
  • Light and dark themes. The program’s appearance can be switched.
  • All settings in one place — every option is now in a single window, with a search box: just start typing the name of a setting.

Atlas update — Windows and macOS

Time-zone changes and corrections for the following countries: Iran, Canada, Morocco, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Portugal, the Philippines, Chile.

New places added for the following countries and territories: Antarctica (Palmer, Machu Picchu, General Bernardo O’Higgins and Villa Las Estrellas stations), East Timor, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Yemen, Cape Verde, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Cameroon, Faroe Islands.

The updated Atlas ships in the 2.16 Apple Silicon build today and will reach the Windows and Intel Mac versions with their 2.16 updates.

What about the license

Nothing changes: the license is tied to your account, not to a machine or a build. Sign in to the new version with your credentials and it works in the same mode as before. If you haven’t tried ZEUS yet, the 21-day demo opens every feature without restrictions.
