Database Synchronization in ZEUS

In today’s highly mobile world, automatic data synchronization is no longer an issue. When working with the same program on different computers, it’s highly convenient to have online synchronization rather than carrying data on a flash drive, which needs protection from unauthorized access if lost, and is generally inconvenient. Protecting your clients’ data is essential. Let’s outline the task and solve it.

Scenario: You have 2 computers with the ZEUS program installed. You need a shared client database with constant access from both home and the office. Access is from different computers.

To solve this, you will need any cloud storage service that has a desktop client for your operating system. This could be Yandex.Disk or Google Drive. Let’s look at an example using Google Drive.

1. You need to register for Google services and get an account. This shouldn’t be an issue; in fact, if you have an Android smartphone, you likely already have one. Convenient, right? :)
2. If you already have an account, simply log into it from your computer.
3. If you don’t have Drive set up, you’ll see a welcome screen asking you to register.
4. Register or log into your account.
5. Now you need to download and install the desktop client on your computer.
6. Go to: https://www.google.com/drive/download/
7. Download the client.
8. During installation, the app will ask which folder you want to sync. You could sync everything, but it’s better to sync just your astrology program’s database folder. To do this, create a folder in your cloud drive and move your astroprocessor’s DB files there before you finish setting up the desktop client.
9. Now sync the cloud folder with the local folder on your hard drive. It should look something like this:
10. Finally, in the astroprocessor’s settings, change the default database file path to point to the newly created Google Drive folder.

Now, after making any changes, your files will automatically sync with your cloud storage.
